.) DEAR JULIA, IN A FEW WORDS: WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU DO?I am a journalist and work as Editor in Chief New Products at EMOTION Verlag in Hamburg. I take care of all topics concerning "Working Women", with a monthly podcast, newsletters and a magazine, and the content of our events. Together with two colleagues, I have just written a book on feminism in everyday life, which will be published by Droemer/Knaur in February.
.) YOU STARTED LAST YEAR WITH THE EMOTION WOMEN'S DAYS. WHAT IS THE IDEA? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE?We believe that a conference was missing that offers both: the atmosphere of a festival and the quality of a training course. Bringing international female speakers on stage and women who have never spoken in front of hundreds of people before. Teaching digitization tools and promoting mindfulness. After all, women are no longer uniform, but diverse, and it is only in this diversity that exchange, and networking is particularly exciting.
.) LAST YEAR IN HAMBURG WITH 800 PARTICIPANTS... THIS YEAR EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT. WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS?We have turned one conference day into five; we will offer a live stream on all of them. On 19 and 23 October, the stream will be available to everyone free of charge at www.emotion.de/womensday. On the paid conference days, 20, 21 and 22 October, there will be additional master classes and a great goodie bag for an on-site conference feeling. Almost 80 speakers* will be speaking during the five days.
.) DO YOU HAVE A FOCUS?Two, actually. One is to show women how much strength, talents and ideas we all have within us. After this year, we all need confirmation of this self-efficacy again. And then: to show new paths that each of us can take. Whether to a new position, to a work with more sense, to new collaborations and with new tech skills.
.) WHAT DO YOU WANT THE PARTICIPANTS TO GAIN FROM THE EVENT?Inspiration, knowledge, joy, new contacts and confidence. The subtitle for the conference is: Fit for 2021 - rethink now, act again from January on.
.) WHO ARE YOUR MOST EXCITING SPEAKERS?I could write a declaration of love to them all. If I have to say who you definitely can't miss, it would be Asma Khan, who became world famous through the "Chef's Table" on Netflix and whose tangible feminism carries me away. Professor Linda Scott, whose book "Female Capital" has just been published in German and who has spent her life researching how women are kept out of economic cycles and away from capital. Malaika Mihambo, the world champion in long jump, who also draws her strength from her time out in India. And Ann Friedman and Aminatou Sow, the founders of "Shine Theory", who have just written a great book about (women's) friendships.
.) ANYTHING ON THE TOPIC OF SUSTAINABILITY? AFTER ALL, YOU ARE ALMOST VETERANS IN THE FIELD WITH YOUR SPECIAL ISSUE EMOTION SLOW...We are very proud that Luisa Neubauer will be giving a keynote speech entitled "How to save Humanity, almost" on 23.10. We have the impression that it is all about understanding that we have to unite and start acting for all. Many of the speakers have this mindset, Kaja Otto, for example, will speak on "How to become a good ancestor", the founders Naomi Ryland and Lisa Jaspers will give a master class on the fact that it is better to change the system than to drag women around.
.) YOUR PERSONAL MOTTO:#gettingaheadtogether or "You'll never walk alone"
