The two founders of Foer have known each other since childhood and come from the Stuttgart region. Malte Feucht and Matthias Krauß had the idea for their own label during a trip to Sumatra during their studies. Today, they are both in the final stages of their Master's degrees at TUM in Munich. Malte is studying robotics. Matthias is studying Sustainable Building.

In search of a classic leather backpack, Malte had one tailored locally in Sumatra and inspired Matthias with the idea of designing and producing timeless leather backpacks.
Back in Germany, they bought a leather sewing machine and began designing and sewing prototypes in his parents' studio in the vineyards near Stuttgart.
The goal: timeless, classic shapes made of durable materials with a focus on sophisticated craftsmanship in their own manufactory.

All leathers are vegetable tanned and therefore free of harmful substances (chrome III), heavy metals or other chemicals. Furthermore, Foer only uses leather from France and Germany - all hides are waste products of EU meat production. The tanning is done with natural substances such as chestnut extract, and the leftovers from the tanning drums are processed into fertiliser. The entire process is certified by Pelle al Vegetale.
The buckles and metal accessories are nickel-free, manufactured in a factory near Florence.
Foer has long-term agreements all the suppliers in Italy and Germany. In their own manufacturing, the accessories are made by hand in Munich under guaranteed fair working conditions. They thus fulfil all 3 pillars of sustainability: ecological, economic and social.
Replacing the upholstery in Schumanns Bar. Cutting the cardholders from the upcycled leather.
But Foer not only uses new leather. In 2019, Foer reupholstered the benches of the legendary Schumanns Bar at the Hofgarten in Munich with vegetable-tanned leather. Instead of dumping the 30-year-old leather covers of the benches (which have survived quite some nights and various guests), they reworked them into cardholders and weekenders.
Foer not only stands for sustainable leather accessories, but also for inspiring stories.
