Even before her studies, founder Birgit Brockbals gained her first experiences with various German designers. With a degree in fashion design at the time of the global economic crisis in 2009 and a short period of full-time employment, she founded the label SPECTRUM with a former fellow student in 2011, parallel to her freelance work as a fashion stylist. At the end of 2012, they parted ways.

Today, her husband Christoph Peinecke also works for the label and manages the brand as CEO.
"I love to decode and reshape ordinary silhouettes - in a very subtle way."
Birgit loves to decode and reinterpret ordinary silhouettes. Classic, timeless and trend-independent, they convince with perfect fits. SPECTRUM stands for sustainable fashion of the highest quality - both in materials and workmanship. The production facilities are located in Hamburg and Kiel. This supports local craftsmen and keeps transport routes and CO2 emissions low. Fair wages and working conditions are a matter of course for SPECTRUM. The collections are seasonless. Individual styles remain as long as the fabrics are available. 90 percent of the fabrics are purchased from European retailers. These fabrics are mostly deadstock from overproductions of various designers, which have already been produced and would be destroyed without further use.
The new fabrics come from certified suppliers. Mainly natural materials like wool, lyocell and silk are used. Fabric consumption is carefully calculated, and overproduction is avoided by using small quantities. There are no sales out, as the prices are calculated fairly from the beginning.
"A fair production of the items exclusively in Germany is part of our self-image. We produce in calculated quantities and avoid overstock."
Therefore, social-ecological production, quality and style are not mutually exclusive, but complement each other perfectly.
