The luxury and fair trade cashmere scarf label 8 Eden Avenue is known for their vision: to empower women artisans by helping them out of poverty in the long run, providing higher wages, medical care and a solid education for the children. For the new collection, they teamed up with an artist: Italian-German artist Tanja Hirschfeld is known for her powerful oil paintings of female figures that embody strength and sensuality. She transforms heroines into majestic creatures by combining masks and garments from different cultures and apoches. For 8 Eden Avenue, she designed the latest collection and developed a series of embroidered drawings. She dedicated the designs to four strong women in art history: Louis Bourgeois, Kiki Smith, Karin Mamma Andersson and Sophie Taeuber-Arp. We talk to Jessica, founder of 8 Eden Avenue, about the latest Woman and Handcraft collection.
